Summary Nishikori, Daniel and Sugita won in Men's singles whereas Doi and Hibino won in women's singles
RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug 7, 2016 (AFP) - Misaki Doi shrugged off her four-day trip to Rio to reach the Olympics second round on Sunday, taking Japan s record to a perfect six wins out of six in the tennis tournament.
Doi was one of a host of players stranded in Montreal last weekend after a string of flight cancellations.
She was eventually routed to Brazil via Fort Lauderdale in Florida and Sao Paulo, arriving late Wednesday.
Despite that drama, she has managed to win twice in two days.
After teaming with Eri Hozumi for a women s doubles win on Saturday, she beat Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan 6-3, 6-4 in singles on Sunday.
Nao Hibino defeated Romania s Irina-Camelia Begu 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 for a perfect record of six wins for Japan.
On Saturday, there had also been men s singles wins for Kei Nishikori, Taro Daniel and Yuichi Sugita.
