US President called Ali the greatest and lauded his services

LAHORE: (Web Desk) - US President Barack Obama wrote a long post for Muhammad Ali on White House s Facebook page calling him the  greatest  as he paid a tribute to legendary boxer, who died earlier today.

Obama posted a photo of him sitting in front of Ali’s photo and wrote that if anyone asked him, he’d tell them that he was the double greatest; that he’d  handcuffed lightning ,  thrown thunder into jail .

Obama mourned over his death but he was also grateful to God that he was fortunate enough to know him. Obama wrote that he was  fortunate that the greatest chose to grace his time .

President also revealed that in his private study, he kept gloves of Ali and a photo of him roaring after beating Sonny Liston. He added that Ali had chosen to go out of America on his peak and came back with a new name.

Obama lauded Ali for fighting for Black community and never giving up even though he had to face consequences. He never bowed down and continued his struggle as he stood behind Martin Luther King Jr and Nelson Mandela.

The first black US President wrote that Ali’s fight for black community earned him many enemies but he continued and made America what it is today. Obama also remembered Ali for fighting against deadly Parkinson disease, which failed to take away the spark from his eyes.

Obama sent condolences to Ali’s family and prayed that the greatest rested in peace.
