Summary Injury will keep Sevilla off the field for approximately 6 weeks, according to Sevilla medical team
MADRID (AFP) - Sevilla will be without French defender Adil Rami for the start of their Champions League campaign as he has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a groin injury.
"Adil Rami suffered a tear in his left adductor muscle in training yesterday," Sevilla said in a statement on their website on Wednesday.
"The injury will keep the player off the field for approximately six weeks, according to the Sevilla medical team."
The 29-year-old has made three appearances for the Andalusians after joining from AC Milan during the transfer window.
Rami will miss Sevilla s opening Group D matches at home to Borussia Monchengladbach and away to Juventus, as well as Barcelona s visit to the Sanchez Pizjuan in La Liga early next month.
However, he could return in time to face Manchester City at the Etihad stadium on October 21.
