Summary Victory put Leckie's side back on track after their 4-0 drubbing at home to Borussia Dortmund

BERLIN (AFP) - Australia s Mathew Leckie netted his first Bundesliga goal on Saturday in Ingolstadt s 1-0 win at Augsburg to give his side their second win on their top flight debut season.

The 24-year-old left winger curled a superb shot inside the left-hand post, which gave Augsburg goalkeeper Marwin Hitz no chance on 63 minutes as Ingolstadt won the Bavarian derby.

The victory put Leckie s side back on track after their 4-0 drubbing at home to Borussia Dortmund last Sunday having opened the league season with a 1-0 win at Mainz a fortnight ago.

Ingolstadt coach Ralph Hasenhuettl praised Leckie and his team-mates for their attitude in griding out the three points against defence-minded Augsburg to go seventh in the league table after three games.

"We choose just the right approach against these opponents," said Hasenhuettl, whose team next hosts Champions League side Wolfsburg in a fortnight.

"I had a few worries about us being hindered at the back, but my boys were really clever.

"I had the feeling we had a better grip on the game than Augsburg and we had that little bit of luck you need to walk off as winners."

Leckie joined Ingolstadt in July 2014 and helped them win their first promotion to the Bundesliga last season by scoring seven goals in Germany s second division.

He is in the Socceroos s squad for Thursday s World Cup qualifier against Bangladesh in Perth.
