Summary Kathleen steered Germany to a bobsled victory in race overshadowed by the heavy crash of US crew
KOENIGSSEE, Germany: (AP) - Kathleen Martini steered Germany to a bobsled World Cup victory Friday in a race overshadowed by the heavy crash of the U.S. crew of Jamie Greubel Poser and Lauryn Williams.
Poser crashed heavily in the first heat while heading for a top-3 finish. She and pusher Williams bumped a wall at high speed and overturned, coming down the track upside down before coming to a stop. They were helped out of the bobsled and walked slowly from the scene. They were being evaluated by the U.S. team s medical staff.
Martini took advantage of a mishap by first-run leader Elana Meyers Taylor of the United States, whose bobsled went on its side in the same area as Poser s vehicle. The American got the bobsled back on track but dropped down.
