A special three-day anti-polio drive began in 11 districts of Balochistan, during which health workers and volunteers would go door to door to administer polio drops to children below the age of five years. At least 6.5 million children across Balochistan would be vaccinated.Health Minister Balochistan Ainullah Shams launched the drive to eradicate polio. The polio drive would last for three days from March 15 to 17. The areas of Gudap town and Baldia town would be focused. A total of 878 workers and volunteers teams would take part in the drive.Ainullah added that the health department had also made special arrangements at railway stations, bus terminals; check posts and airport where the children of passengers would be vaccinated. He said the government would launch a massive campaign in close collaboration with the print and electronic media for raising public awareness about the severity of the disease and with urgency of attaining zero prevalence of the poliovirus in the area.Anti-polio campaign would be launched in Karachi and Azad Kashmir to vaccinate three million children.
