Summary Japan will provide Rs 20.72 million to Al-Khidmat Foundation and Hana Development Council.
The agreements for the two projects were signed on Thursday , at the residence of Japanese Ambassador’s residence. Akira Kono, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of Japan to Pakistan and the chiefs of these organizations inked the agreement.Under the agreement Al-Khidmat Foundation would get US$ 122,419 while Hana Development Council will receive US$ 105,808The grants will be utilized for the construction of two maternal and child health centers, one each in Districts Charsadda, KP and Mandi Bahuddin, Punjab.The purpose of these projects is to address the lack of adequate and affordable reproductive health facilities in rural areas of the country. By virtue of these projects, nearly 57,000 people every year will be able to meet their essential health needs.On the occasion Japanese Charge d’ Affairs Akira Kono said that improving medical and health services, especially for women and children, is one of the priorities in Japan’s assistance policy towards Pakistan..“I hope that provision of better medical service in project areas would contribute to improve the health status of the communities, and would hence strengthen the existing friendly relations between the people of Japan and Pakistan”, Kono added.
