MOSCOW (Shahid Ghumman) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov praised a Pakistani student for asking a question in fluent Russian during an international youth festival, saying Russia would always welcome Pakistani representatives at youth events.
The Pakistani student, who is studying at a university in Krasnoyarsk, asked Lavrov a question in Russian during the International Youth Festival in Yekaterinburg.
She asked how foreign students living and studying in Russia could contribute to strengthening international relations.
Responding to her question, Lavrov said she was already doing exactly that by contributing to the promotion of international relations.
The Russian foreign minister said he had mentioned several events organised for young people in Russia, but noted that there were many more such programmes.
Lavrov expressed hope that festival organisers would provide participants with a list of youth events held annually across Russia.
He said Russia would always welcome Pakistani representatives at such events, particularly young Pakistanis who speak Russian “so politely and clearly.”
The student smiled and thanked Lavrov for his response, while participants in the hall also appreciated the exchange.
The interaction took place during a session titled “A New World Order: Open Dialogue with Sergey Lavrov” held as part of the International Youth Festival.
Young people from Russia and other countries attended the session and asked the Russian foreign minister questions about global politics, diplomacy, international cooperation and the role of youth.
