Summary Ishaq Dar and Jordan's foreign minister discussed Gaza, condemned Israeli actions, and reaffirmed support for a two-state solution and Palestinian rights.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, during which the two leaders discussed the situation in Palestine in detail.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, both ministers expressed deep concern over Israeli military operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
They also strongly condemned repeated incursions by Israeli settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque and restrictions imposed on Palestinian worshippers.
The two leaders said such provocative actions violated the sanctity of the holy site, heightened tensions and undermined prospects for peace.
The spokesperson said Dar and Safadi also discussed Jordan's proposal to convene an emergency meeting of Arab and Islamic countries to address the worsening situation.
Safadi appreciated Pakistan's constructive role and diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and stability.
Reaffirming Pakistan's unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, Dar reiterated Islamabad's backing for a just, lasting and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution.
He also reaffirmed Pakistan's principled position in support of the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital.
