LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said allegations would achieve nothing, urging Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to work harder on his party's narrative and performance following the Azad Jammu and Kashmir local elections.
Congratulating PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and party workers on the party's victory in the Mirpur Division, she thanked Allah for what she described as the public's strong vote of confidence in the party.
Maryam said the success was the result of the leadership's guidance and the tireless efforts of party workers, adding that they deserved full credit for the electoral outcome.
Criticising the PPP, she said the party had used inappropriate language during the election campaign and claimed its public rallies witnessed poor attendance.
Addressing Bilawal Bhutto directly, the chief minister said he should focus on improving his political narrative and performance rather than criticising others.
She argued that despite ruling Sindh for the past 17 years, the PPP had failed to present any major development project to the public.
Maryam said voters based their decisions on performance, adding that PML-N's electoral success reflected public confidence in its governance.
She maintained that the people of Azad Kashmir wanted relief from damaged roads and inadequate healthcare facilities and were seeking development projects and public services similar to those introduced in Punjab.
The chief minister said the era of artificial intelligence demanded facts and performance rather than allegations, adding that voters had already judged political parties on their record.
She further claimed that Bilawal had targeted senior political leaders during his campaign despite lacking a significant governance record to present before the electorate.
Maryam said the public had voted in favour of initiatives such as the Kisan Card, improved road infrastructure and development projects. She also noted that the PPP had been in power in Azad Kashmir for the past year, yet continued to blame the federal government.
She added that allegations of electoral rigging were often made when parties lacked performance, claiming that videos allegedly showing PPP candidates involved in irregularities had circulated on social media. She concluded by saying that all political parties should respect the public mandate and accept the election results in the spirit of democracy.
