LAHORE (Dunya News) – Torrential rains and flood-like conditions wreaked havoc across Pakistan, leaving at least 14 people dead and dozens injured as severe weather triggered widespread destruction in several regions of the country.

In Swat, a boat capsized in Saifullah Lake, killing six tourists. Rescue teams recovered the bodies, while search operations continued for a missing woman. All of the deceased reportedly belonged to the same family.

In Attock, three people, including two brothers, were killed and five others injured after separate wall and roof collapse incidents.

In Landi Kotal, two children were killed and four others injured after lightning struck, while in Upper Dir, lightning injured 20 female students at a madrassa.

In Zhob, a woman and a child lost their lives after roofs collapsed during heavy rainfall, while another citizen died after being struck by lightning in Ganjial Qaidabad.

In Abbottabad, three people were injured after a vehicle was swept away in a rain-fed stream. In Mardan, three people, including two children, were injured after a signboard and wall collapsed during the storm.

Heavy rainfall also brought relief from intense heat in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, while strong showers in Lahore caused power outages after several feeders tripped.

Rain lashed Attock, Pindi Bhattian, Mandi Bahauddin, Sargodha, Bhera, Hafizabad, Kasur and Muridke, while water accumulated in low-lying areas of Gujrat following heavy downpours.

In Haripur and Abbottabad, overflowing streams and accumulated rainwater inundated roads and markets, disrupting daily life, while rainfall and hailstorms were also reported in Swabi, Khuzdar, Zhob and Kohlu. Cloud cover and light drizzle were also recorded in parts of Karachi.

The National Disaster Management Authority has issued an alert over potential hazards, warning of possible flooding due to glacial lake outburst floods in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir, along with sudden surges in hill torrents and seasonal streams.
