ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced PhD scholarships for Pakistani students seeking admission to top universities in the United States under the Pakistan Knowledge Corridor Program for 2027 admissions.

According to HEC, online applications are now open for PhD scholarships at U.S. universities ranked among the top 100 in the QS World University Rankings.

The commission said the scholarship is exclusively for PhD programs, while master's and MS-to-PhD programs are not eligible. Preference will be given to applicants who secure admission to U.S. universities in HEC's priority academic fields.

According to the announcement, the application deadline for Spring and Summer 2027 admissions is October 30, 2026, while the deadline for Fall 2027 admissions is March 30, 2027.

Applications can be submitted through HEC's online scholarship portal. HEC said the scholarship has been divided into two categories.

The first category covers candidates admitted to U.S. universities ranked among the top 50 in the QS rankings. They will receive tuition fees according to the university invoice, an annual stipend of $19,200, and annual health insurance worth $2,000.

The second category covers students admitted to U.S. universities ranked between 51 and 100. They will receive up to $12,000 annually in tuition fees, an annual stipend of $19,200, and $2,000 in annual health insurance.

To qualify, applicants must be citizens of Pakistan or Azad Jammu and Kashmir, have completed at least 16 years of education, including a four-year bachelor's degree, have no second or third division in their academic record, and must not be receiving any other scholarship.

The age limit is 35 years for general applicants and 40 years for government employees, permanent faculty members of public universities, and researchers at approved research institutions.

Applicants must also obtain at least 300 marks in the GRE General Test or score at least 60% in the Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT). HEC advised interested candidates to visit its website and scholarship portal for detailed information and to submit their applications.
