Summary Balochistan government approves sending Dr Mahnoor Nasir to US for treatment after Quetta acid attack and critical injuries.

QUETTA (Web Desk) - The Balochistan government has decided to send Dr Mahnoor Nasir to the United States for specialised medical treatment after she was severely injured in an acid attack at a Quetta hospital.

Assistant to the Chief Minister, Shahid Rind, said Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has approved her treatment abroad, and the provincial government has begun formal procedures.

He added that the Chief Minister’s Secretariat has issued an official letter to relevant authorities in this regard.

According to officials, Dr Mahnoor will continue receiving treatment for another week at a private hospital in Karachi before arrangements for her transfer to the United States are finalised.

Authorities said the government is using all available resources to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured doctor.

Dr Mahnoor is currently under treatment in Karachi after being shifted from Quetta’s Civil Hospital following the attack earlier this month.

Police had said shortly after the incident that the suspect involved in the acid attack was killed in an encounter.

Sources said reconstructive surgeons and eye specialists have completed their assessment. Dr Mahnoor suffered burn injuries to her face, abdomen, legs, and right hand, with around 13% of her body affected, though her eyesight remains intact.

Separately, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti announced a civil award for hospital staff member Abdul Razzaq Tarakai, who rushed to help the victim during the attack, praising his courage and sense of duty.
