ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan’s reported role in facilitating the Iran-US ceasefire efforts is receiving international recognition, with American Congressman Jack Bergman sending a letter of appreciation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
In the letter, the Congressional Pakistan Caucus expressed sincere gratitude and lasting appreciation for Pakistan’s political and military leadership.
Jack Bergman, co-chair of the Congressional Pakistan Caucus, said Pakistan’s efforts in bringing the United States and Iran to the negotiating table reflected “true statesmanship and strategic vision”.
The US congressman stated that he was deeply thankful for the guidance and role played by Pakistan’s political and military leadership in the ongoing peace negotiations between the two sides.
Bergman further said relations between Pakistan and the United States carried long-term strategic importance.
According to the letter, both the White House and the US Congress had publicly acknowledged Pakistan’s unique and positive diplomatic role.
The American lawmaker also announced plans to visit Pakistan soon in order to further strengthen strategic relations between the two countries.
