Summary Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif says India is waging a proxy war through Afghanistan, while calling for regional peace.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said India is waging a proxy war against Pakistan through Afghanistan, intensifying rhetoric over regional security concerns.

Speaking during an interview with a private TV channel, Asif claimed that Afghanistan was effectively acting as a proxy for India, maintaining that New Delhi was using Afghan territory to destabilise Pakistan. He further asserted that both Pakistani and Afghan Taliban factions were receiving support from India.

The defence minister emphasised that Pakistan seeks stability and peace in the region, stating that Islamabad aims to maintain relations with neighbouring countries based on mutual respect and cooperation. He reiterated that Pakistan’s policy is rooted in peaceful coexistence, describing the country’s approach as that of a responsible neighbour committed to regional harmony.

Asif also underlined the importance of prioritising national interests over personal considerations, urging stakeholders to set aside individual gains in favour of broader state objectives. His remarks come amid heightened tensions and ongoing security challenges along Pakistan’s western border.

Referring to past conflicts, the minister stated that the Pakistan Army had previously countered Indian actions effectively, saying that such responses had deterred further aggression. He added that India would not risk launching another attack against Pakistan, citing the military’s preparedness and past outcomes.
