Summary NDMA warns of heavy rain, hail, and storms across Pakistan, raising risks of flooding, landslides, and damage to infrastructure.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert forecasting more rain and hailstorms across most parts of the country.

According to NDMA, strong winds, thunderstorms, and hail are expected on April 17 and 18 in northern areas, parts of Punjab, western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and northern Balochistan.

Heavy rainfall is likely in northern areas including Gilgit, Skardu, Chitral, Kalam, Dir, Batagram, Balakot, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Kotli, and surrounding regions.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain with thunderstorms is expected in Swat, Shangla, Buner, Mardan, Malakand, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kohat, Bannu, and Lakki Marwat.

Rain accompanied by strong winds is also forecast in Islamabad and various districts of Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Mianwali.

In Balochistan, areas such as Zhob, Qila Saifullah, Loralai, Barkhan, Kohlu, Pishin, Ziarat, Quetta, and Kalat may also experience storms and rainfall.

NDMA has warned that heavy rains may trigger flash floods in mountainous regions and urban flooding in low-lying areas. Strong winds, lightning, and hailstorms could damage weak structures, trees, standing crops, vehicles, and power lines.

The authority also cautioned about increased risks of landslides in hilly areas due to continuous rainfall.
