Summary Pakistan continues mediation efforts in US-Iran tensions as second round of talks likely soon, with differences over uranium enrichment terms.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan has agreed to continue diplomatic efforts to help resolve tensions between the United States and Iran.

The decision was made during a high-level consultative meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with participation from Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and other senior officials. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan briefed participants on ongoing diplomatic engagements.

The meeting also reviewed contacts with various global leaders and finalized the agenda for the prime minister’s upcoming foreign visits. Satisfaction was expressed over Pakistan’s current relations with Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar.

Meanwhile, in the backdrop of rising tensions between the United States and Iran, efforts by mediators have intensified for a second round of talks, which may take place in Pakistan within days.

According to The New York Times, ongoing discussions indicate that progress toward a potential peace agreement remains possible, with the likelihood of direct talks between senior officials of both countries.

Bloomberg reported that the next round of negotiations is expected before the end of a two-week ceasefire period, with venue selection still under consideration.

Reports suggest that during the Islamabad talks, Iran offered to suspend uranium enrichment for five years, while the United States rejected the proposal, insisting on a suspension period of up to twenty years.
