Defence Minister Khawaja Asif reaches Morocco for a two-day visit, where Pakistan and Morocco are set to sign an MoU to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has arrived in Morocco on a two-day official visit, where he was warmly received by Moroccan military officials and senior government representatives.
Khawaja Asif reached Casablanca for his official visit from January 12 to 14, 2026. Upon his arrival at the airport, he was welcomed by Major General Ahmed Hatoutou, Commander of the Casablanca Army, senior Moroccan officials, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Morocco, Syed Adil Gilani.
An official statement said that during the visit, Pakistan and Morocco will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote defence cooperation. This agreement is being described as a significant step toward strengthening bilateral defence relations between the two countries.
The defence minister is scheduled to meet Morocco’s Minister Delegate for National Defence Administration, Abdellatif Loudyi. He will also lead delegation-level talks aimed at enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The statement added that the signing of the MoU marks a historic and mutually beneficial development in Pakistan-Morocco defence ties. Under the agreement, an institutional framework will be established to ensure sustained defence engagement. It will also open new avenues for future collaboration in various defence and security sectors, including military training, exchange of expertise, capacity building, and other joint initiatives.
The statement further noted that the visit reflects the long-standing friendly relations between Pakistan and Morocco and underscores their shared commitment to expanding cooperation in defence, security, and other areas of common interest.
