KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Sindh government is set to launch an e-challan system within the Sindh Food Authority, expanding its digital governance initiatives beyond the traffic sector.

The decision was shared during a meeting between Sindh Minister for Food Makhdoom Mehboob-uz-Zaman and PPP Women Wing Central President Faryal Talpur. During the meeting, the provincial minister provided a detailed briefing on the Food Authority’s upcoming digital reforms.

According to the minister, the new system will include online registration, a complaint management system, and a fully digital challaning mechanism.

These upgrades are designed to ensure efficient service delivery, quick response to violations, and improved oversight of food-related businesses. Officials believe that introducing e-challans will not only make enforcement more transparent but also help curb corruption and ensure that penalties are issued fairly and promptly.

Makhdoom Mehboob-uz-Zaman also briefed Faryal Talpur on recent actions taken against substandard and unhygienic food sellers across Sindh.

He highlighted ongoing enforcement drives, inspections, and penalties imposed to protect public health. Additionally, he discussed the progress made on the department’s wet stock policy, which aims to regulate food storage and quality standards more effectively.
