Verdict against Faiz Hameed a victory for truth, says Atta Tarar

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News)- Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar said that the verdict against Former Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence of Pakistan Faiz Hameed clearly proves that the army’s process of self-accountability is very strong.

Tarar said that Faiz Hameed had also been acting as a political adviser to PTI, and today’s decision is a victory for truth and justice and ruling against Faiz Hameed was based on evidence. “Today, the person who crossed the red line has been punished,” Tarar said.

The information minister added that Hameed was allowed to present his defence and bring forward witnesses. After recording all statements and examining the evidence, a ‘just and fair’ verdict was delivered. “No one is above the law,” he stressed.

Tarar went on saying that legal action is taken against anyone who crosses the red line. He alleged that Faiz Hameed misused his authority and that further investigation into his political involvement would continue.

Tarar said Hameed was found guilty of all charges and also received punishment in the Top City case.

Minister added that the army’s internal accountability system is strong and transparent, and today’s decision reflects that.
