Mansoor given till Feb 9 as last chance to appear

Memo Commission has set Feb 9 as last date for Mansoor to appear before the Commission.

The Commission also said that if Mansoor Ijaz was dissatisfied with security assurances, the petition may be cancelled, while Mansoor’s statement could only be recorded abroad if both parties agreed.Passing his remarks, Memo Commission chairman Justice Faez Isa said that if parties agree, the commission can record statements abroad.He said that high-ups from government offices are issuing strange statements not suiting their portfolio and stature. The Commission directed lawyer Akram Shaikh to consult Mansoor Ijaz as to when he can visit Pakistan.On this, Akram Shaikh said that he himself is leaving to perform Umara by February 2.Before this, the Commission had remarked that Reman Malik issued inappropriate statements. Is he part of the Commission or has judicial powers, asked the Commission members.Some other parties have moved their petitions seeking to record Mansoor’s statement abroad.
