LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has tasked Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir with launching the ‘Clinics on Boats’ initiative who said the project would become operationa in the next 24 to 48 hours.

During a review meeting chaired by Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir, attended online by CEOs of Health and Medical Superintendents across the province, decisions were made to assess the Health and Population Department’s relief activities in flood-affected areas.

He said this initiative would provide medical facilities to flood victims in districts where ‘Clinics on Wheels’ could not reach while highlighting that the effectiveness of the ‘Clinic on Wheels’ project is now evident, and now the ‘Clinics on Boats' will prove to be a game-changer in delivering healthcare to flood-affected areas.

The minister directed robust measures for dengue prevention in flood-hit areas, emphasizing that there should be no lapses in dengue surveillance.

He noted that over 6.3 million people have been affected by the recent floods, and it is the government's responsibility to safeguard their health. Preparations must be completed to handle post-flood situations, with medicines for epidemic and skin diseases available at all hospitals, large and small.

The minister further instructed that doctors and paramedical staff must be present at Clinic on Wheels, field hospitals, and relief camps.
