ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, urged punishment for those involved in attacks on Chinese nationals in Pakistan.

Zaidong highlighted the close ties between China and Pakistan, noting that high-level meetings, including one between their leaders within the last four months, demonstrate the strong relationship between the two countries. He mentioned that several critical Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the Chinese Prime Minister’s visit, underlining key projects and cooperation.

Ambassador Zaidong further noted that Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang inaugurated Gwadar's modern airport alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Chinese Prime Minister also met with top Pakistani officials, including the President, Prime Minister, Senate Chairman, and Army Chief, where discussions prioritised the safety of Chinese citizens in Pakistan.

The Chinese envoy also conveyed President Xi Jinping's concerns regarding security in Pakistan, adding that, with China’s financial assistance, the newly established Gwadar airport can now accommodate large cargo planes, enhancing regional connectivity and trade. He expressed positiveness that major projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will continue to boost Pakistan's connectivity and trade potential.
