SCO huddle would play a key role in enhancing regional connectivity, investment, infrastructure
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senate on Thursday passed a resolution felicitating the government for successfully holding the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's (SCO) Council of Heads of Government meeting in federal capital.
PPP Senator Sherry Rehman tabled the resolution in the upper house of the parliament. The resolution stated that the mega even will have positive impact on Pakistan's growing geo-economic profile.
It added that SCO huddle would also play a key role in enhancing regional connectivity, investment, infrastructure, climate and security goals.
The Senate also approved the Deposit Protection Corporation Amendment Bill, 2024, presented by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
In his remarks, the finance minister said the bill would further strengthen the financial system in the country.
A bill related to Establishment of Special Court (Overseas Pakistanis Property) was also sailed through the Senate after it was tabled by Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain.
He said the establishment of special court aimed at addressing the property related issues being faced by overseas Pakistanis.
The finance minister also tabled the National Forensics Agency Bill, 2024, which has been referred to the standing committee for further discussion.
