RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) has postponed its Pindi sit-in scheduled to be held on Sunday (today) in Rawalpindi, Dunya News reported here on Saturday.

According to Pindi JI secretary information Ahmad Bhatti, the protest was postponed due to uncertain law and order situation and road blocks in the city.

The JI secretary information said the sit-in will be held on Friday against rising electricity costs and the Independent Power Producers (IPPs).

Earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman announced a nationwide protest on Sept 29 against rising electricity costs and the Independent Power Producers (IPPs).

During a press conference in Lahore, the JI leader highlighted that since 2000, IPPs have received billions of rupees annually, while salaried individuals are burdened with fuel price adjustments and TV taxes in electricity bills.
