Rain again lashes Lahore, other cities of Punjab

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Rain accompanied by cold winds lashed Lahore on second consecutive day and several other cities of Punjab in the wee hours of Tuesday, Dunya News reported.

The downpour in different areas inundated roads and streets in the provincial capital of Lahore and residence faced immense difficulties as rainwater entered houses in low lying areas.

Dozens of LESCO feeders tripped due to heavy rain and strong wind in the city, resulting in power outage in various areas.

Rain was also reported from Sheikhupura, Jhang, Sukheke, Sahiwal, Gujranwal, Sangla Hill, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Ahmedpur Sharqia and their adjoining areas.

Earlier on Monday. light rain was reported from many parts of the country, including capital of Punjab province, Lahore, giving a feeling of winter. The heavens were beneath a cover of grey clouds keeping the early morning sun in hiding. With a little breeze, drizzle started at around 7:30 on Abbot Road, The Mall, Gulberg, Gulshan-e-Ravi and other areas plunging the mercury to such a level that motorcyclists were seen wearing warm clothes and jackets.

The Met Office reported rain in other cities of Punjab, including Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Chiniot, Sahiwal, Kasur, Okara, Pattoki. The weather pundits had a day ago forecast light to heavy rain in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Punjab, upper Sindh, northeast Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, and snow over high mountains.
