Change of guard ceremony at Quaid's mausoleum on Defence Day

KARACHI (Dunya News) – A special ceremony was held at the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah (RA) on Wednesday with smartly-turned guards of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) assuming their duties.
Air Officer Commanding PAF Academy Air Vice Marshal Ghazanfar Latif was the chief guest at the change of command ceremony. He also laid the floral wreath at the mausoleum, offered Fateha and wrote his comments in the guest book.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Latif said today is a day to pay tribute to the joint victory of armed forces of Pakistan. “We will always continue defending our boundaries as protective shield against our enemies.”
He said that our forces guarded the country's borders vigorously and the sacrifices made for the defense of the country will not go in vain.
Air Marshal Latif said today's historic day is in the name of our ghazis and martyrs and thanks to the sacrifices of the armed forces. We have inherited the value of love and freedom for the country. The prayers of the nation have been behind the victory of the armed forces, he said adding we have reached here due to your passions and efforts.
He said in today's era we are facing enormous problems and being a nation, we will come out of every difficult situation. Pakistan came into being forever and no power in the world can destroy it. He said we would continue the tradition of guards changing.
As many as 57 cadets including seven women participated in the guards changing ceremony while during the ceremony, the cadets of the PAF took over the duties of the guards at the mausoleum.
On the other hand, the President of Pakistan, Caretaker Prime Minister, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Services Chief and the Armed Forces of Pakistan paid tribute to the martyrs and their families on Defense Day.
Defense Day is a bright chapter in the national history of Pakistan, on this day, the forces of Pakistan created a new history of courage and bravery by defeating the eternal enemy, India.
Defense and Martyrs Day is celebrated on Sept 6 to pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the motherland and their families.
Our armed forces and the entire Pakistani nation thwarted the nefarious intentions of the enemy 58 years ago by showing extraordinary courage and unparalleled spirit.
CJCSC, Services Chiefs pay tribute to martyrs, families on 58th Defence Day
The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), Services Chiefs and Armed Forces of the country paid rich tribute to martyrs, their families and war veterans on the 58th Defence and Martyrs’ Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the country’s military leadership in its message said that on 6th September 1965, it was yet again displayed that a smaller but righteous force overcame a numerically larger enemy with professionalism, determination and faith.
“Indeed this day and associated heroics and sacrifices continue to inspire our generations. The day exudes the spirit of unity and sacrifice in the defence of our motherland,” the ISPR said.
“We owe our freedom and peace to the unprecedented sacrifices of our martyrs and veterans. Pakistan remain committed to ensuring the defence of the motherland against all internal and external threats. Hostile efforts to spoil the hard-earned peace will be met with the full might of the armed forces, backed with the support and resolve of the people of Pakistan, Insha Allah,” it added.
Nation observes Defence and Martyrs' Day with patriotic spirit today
Defence and Martyrs Day is being observed today (Wednesday) to pay tribute to the martyrs and ghazis, and reaffirm commitment to defend the motherland against all threats.
The Day is observed to pay homage to the martyrs and ghazis who became a rock solid wall to defend the motherland against the aggression of enemy.
It was on this day in 1965 that the Indian forces crossed international border in the darkness of night to attack Pakistan, but our valiant armed forces backed by the entire nation foiled nefarious designs of the enemy.
The day will dawn with 31-gun salute at the federal capital and 21-gun salute at provincial capitals.
Special prayers will be offered after Fajr in mosques for the progress and prosperity of the country and independence of the Occupied Jammu and Kashmir from the clutches of India.
Fateha and Quran Khwani will also be held for the martyrs.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has released new song to pay tribute to the martyrs on Defence Day.
The song is written by renowned lyricist Khalilur Rehman Qamar. ‘Qurban Huway’ is sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and the song was composed by Naveed Naushad.
All the martyrs of army, air force and navy have been paid rich tributes in the video. The song is an excellent depiction of thousands of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for this motherland.
The sons of the soil sacrificed their lives to protect this land and video of ‘Qurban Huway’ showed it in an excellent way.
Nation stands united with defence forces: PM
In his message on Defence and Martyrs' Day, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar has said the 6th September is remembered as the day of vigor, bravery, courage and resilience.
He said this glorious day, where the entire Pakistani nation stood side by side with its Armed Forces, calls upon us to make a pledge to renew the spirit of loyalty and service to Pakistan and pay tribute to valiant sons of the soil who embraced 'Shahadat' while ensuring security of the nation.
The Prime Minister said the defence of the country is not limited to 6 September alone, rather stretches upon an entire lifetime and encompasses all dimensions of physical and ideological frontiers, which needs to be guarded.
He said today, when Pakistan is confronted with multiple security challenges in the shape of extremism, terrorism and external aggression, the entire nation stands united alongside their Defence Forces, to thwart evil designs against the integrity and prosperity of Pakistan.
