Muqam's convoy was on its way to address public rally
SHANGLA (Dunya News) - There were reports of an attack on Amir Muqam, a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) and advisor to PM Shehbaz Sharif.
Unidentified assailants fired upon his convoy at Martung while he was on his way to the inauguration of the Nadra office and to address a rally.
The incident triggered memories of a similar attempt on his life in 2014 in the same area. The police have launched a search operation at the location.
PM Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack and contacted Muqam to inquire about his well-being while expressing his solidarity.
PML-N senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz also called and paid tribute to Amir Muqam's morale and bravery for continuing to serve people despite the threats of terrorism. She emphasized the importance of eliminating terrorism for Pakistan's development and stability and praised the role of the armed forces, rangers, police, and law enforcement agencies.
