Rain caused disruption of electricity in parts of Lahore as more than 200 feeders of Lesco tripped
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Heavy rain, accompanied by gusty winds, in Lahore on late Wednesday night turned the weather pleasant and brought the mercury considerably down, Dunya News reported.
Downpour in several areas inundated roads and streets in the provincial capital and commuters and motorists faced immense difficulties while trying to carry on with their routine on Thursday morning.
Rain caused disruption of electricity in parts of Lahore as more than 200 feeders of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) tripped, plunging various parts of the city into darkness.
Rain was also reported in other parts of the country including Islamabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Wazirabad, Sukheke, Pindi Bhattian, Sangla Hill, Muridke, Hafizabad, Attock, Badin, Surab, Kalat, Muzaffarabad and Swat. Met office said the current spell of rain would continue for two days.
According to Met office, dust/thunderstorm-rain (with isolated heavy falls and hailstorm) is likely in Kashmir, Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, East/South Balochistan and Sindh. Intense dust-storm/thunderstorm and rain (heavy to very heavy scattered rain with extremely heavy at times) is expected in lower Sindh. Dust-storm/dust raising winds are likely over plain areas of the country during the next 24 hours.
