Experts call for urgent action on water crisis at seminar organised by Alkhidmat Foundation

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, organized a seminar to mark World Water Day. The seminar was part of Alkhidmat's nationwide campaign titled "Accelerating Change for solving water problems" aimed at raising awareness about the importance of water conservation and protecting it from wastage.

Distinguished guests, including Syed Ehsanullah Waqas, Vice President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, former chairman of Punjab Aab Authority, Shakeel A. Alkhidmat Punjab's President, Ikramul Haq Subhani, Dr Qadeer Suhrawardy, Abid Bodla, Amjad Saeed, Zafar Iqbal, Hafiz Qaiser, Tariq Altaf, Rehan Nadeem, Haji Farooq, Dr. Akhtar Rana, and Shoaib Hashmi, participated in the event.

Addressing the participants, Vice President of AKFP, Syed Ehsanullah Waqas emphasized the need to raise public awareness about the importance of water and its safe consumption. He also highlighted Alkhidmat Foundation's efforts to address water scarcity, polluted water, and related damages through awareness campaigns and clean drinking water projects in various parts of the country.

Currently, Alkhidmat Foundation operates 229 water filtration plants, 2541 wells, 12074 hand pumps, 1850 submersible pumps, 320 solar submersible pumps, and 148 gravity flow water schemes that provide clean drinking water to over 48 lakh people every day.

Speaking on the occasion, Shakeel A. Khan, former chairman of Punjab Water Pak Authority, commended Alkhidmat Foundation's humanitarian services and stressed the need for collective efforts to address the country's water crisis. He added that while charitable organizations like Alkhidmat Foundation play an important role in providing clean drinking water, the government needs to take broader steps to address the issue.

Other speakers at the event highlighted various issues related to water scarcity, wastage, and pollution. They urged individuals and organizations to take immediate and effective steps to conserve and recycle water.

The event concluded with the distribution of shields among the guests. Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan's Senior Manager Media Relations highlighted the organization's efforts to provide clean drinking water during recent floods and in remote areas like Tharparkar and Cholistan using mobile water filtration plants and solar technology. The organization is also working on land settlement projects.
