Aslam Iqbal deems PDM as ‘mafia’
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal on Friday labelled the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) ‘mafia’.
Addressing a news conference in Lahore, Mr Iqbal, flanked by Raja Basharat, made a statement in favour of his party chief, Imran Khan, saying the country’s most popular leader was subjected to the assassination attempt in Wazirabad.
Mr Iqbal lashed out at PML-N leaders Maryam Nawaz and Mian Javed Latif, saying, "They made an effort to give the Wazirabad incident a religious touch, to which the PTI responded with a strong condemnation."
Hitting out at the rulers, Mr Iqbal said, "Those people who were even ignored by their own family members are now ruling the country." Highlighting the stature of Imran Khan’s popularity, he said, "Imran’s FIR was not registered. After all, he is the most popular leader of the country."
Urging the judiciary to form the judicial commission to clear the air over the Wazirabad incident, Mr Iqbal said there was a need to form the commission under the supervision of the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP). He said every PTI MP would support Imran Khan and claimed that political opponents were afraid of his [Imran s] popularity.
