Omar Cheema calls Sharifs, Zardari 'economic hitmen'

The PTI has been calling for early elections in the country since ouster of Imran Khan.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Adviser to Chief Minister on Home Affairs Omar Sarfaraz Cheema said on Wednesday the Sharif-Zardari gang was a group of "economic hitmen".

Criticising the leaders of the ruling coalition, the CM’s aide said the ‘Sharif-Zardari gang’ had opened corruption avenues for others by getting their cases disposed of. "The gang violates the constitution of the country and damage reputation of state institutions," he added.

The PTI leader further said the gang was once again preparing to attack democracy in Punjab.

The PTI has been calling for early elections in the country since the ouster of Imran Khan through a no-confidence vote in April. To press its demand, the party announced that it would dissolve the provincial assemblies in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Meanwhile, former information minister Fawad Chaudhry said the PTI would oppose imposition of technocratic government in the country. The PTI stalwart issued the remarks in response to reports that plans were being hatched to form an interim government for a period of six months to two and-a-half years instead of calling fresh elections in the country.

Taking to Twitter, he said the idea of replacing the government with technocratic set-up was “foolish”, adding that political crisis was more severe than economic turmoil. He claimed that such schemes were being designed at the cost of the country’s interests just to stop PTI Chairman Imran from regaining power.

“We will oppose this kind of technocratic government,” he vowed.
