ETPB couldn’t provide the committee with an accurate record of encroachments on abandoned trust land
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood has chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Institutional Reforms.
The federal minister presided over a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Institutional Reforms. The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) briefed the meeting on implementation of recommendations of the Prime Minister’s Task Force.
The ETPB couldn’t provide the committee with an accurate record of encroachments on abandoned trust lands.
In the meeting ETPB could not provide accurate record of land reclamation from mafias, barren lands and agricultural lands. The ETPB also could not provide important information regarding the abandoned Waqf Property Board Land related court cases, number of orphanages and the number of schools.
The Chairman CCIR has ordered the ETPB to come prepared in the next meeting with all the important records. While in the next meeting, the justification of ETPB managed schools has also been sought.
The Secretary Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has also given detailed briefing about the important tasks, recruitment methods, grievance redressal and vacancies.
Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood has said, “Apart from recruitment through CSS, the process of general recruitment for vacancies in various ministries and divisions has been delayed for years, adding that urgent reforms were needed to complete this process in 6 months. He said 70 % of the workload on FPSC has been caused by 16th grade recruitment which needs to be reviewed. A proposal must be sent to the Secretary FPSC Establishment Division and CCIR to recruit 16th Grade to the concerned Ministry, Division itself.
The minister further said that FPSC would conduct recruitment process for grades 17 and above. The FPSC Ordinance will be amended for this purpose.
