Unofficial results: PTI wins 60 Cantonment Board seats; PML-N won 59
Cantonment board elections: Polling ends, vote count underway
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Unofficial results of all 212 wards in 42 cantonment boards election across Pakistan have been announced, Dunya News reported.
The polling for the cantonment boards election had started on Sunday at 8:00 am in the morning and concluded at 5:00 p.m. At least 1,560 candidates of various political parties along with independent candidates were contested the election.
According to unofficial results of 212 wards, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf emerged as winner at 60 seats while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) secured 59 seats. Independents remained third with 55 seats.
Pakistan People’s Party could secure 17 seats. Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) got 10 seats and Jamaat-e-Islami grabbed seven seats. Awami National Party (ANP) and Balochistan Awami Party got two seats each.

Lahore (Ward 1)
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Ali Hassan Abbas has won with 1,312 votes, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Sabir Hafeez Butt came second with 189 votes.
Lahore (Ward 2)
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Rizwan Shafqat Razi has won with 5,034 votes, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Sheikh Azeem Akhtar came second with 2842 votes.
Lahore (Ward 6)
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Chaudhry Umar Talib has won with 2,150 votes, while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Shahbaz Ali came second with 2,029 votes.
Lahore Walton (Ward 1)
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Ashfaq Ahmad Chauhdry succeeded with a total of 4096 votes, while PTI’s Waheed Sattar came second with 2,789 votes.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Muhammad Hanif has won with 4,331 votes, while Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Muhammad Tariq Sadiqui came second with 3,954 votes.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) won with 5,470, while PTI’s Faisal Hakim Bhatti came in second with 4,753 votes.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Nouman Naeem has won with 4373 votes, while Paksitan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate Sheikh Basharat Ali came second with 2604 votes.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Shahzad Shafi has won with 2,299 votes, while Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Baba Ilyas came second with 817 votes.

Independent candidate Umair Khadim has won with 641 votes, while independent candidate Masood Mirza came second with 341 votes.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Sheikh Umar has won with 732 votes, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Kashif Siddique came second with 631 votes.

Independent candidate Irfan Chand Butt has won with 1368 votes, while independent candidate Israr Baig came second with 1283 votes.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Ghulam Murtaza has won with 607, while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate came second with 296 votes.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Akhtar Rasool has won with 321 votes, while independent candidate Khalid Asad came second with 249 votes.

Independent candidate Sana Akbar has won with 467 votes, while independent candidate Arif Raza came second with 280 votes.

Independent candidate Shamshad Ali Ansari has won with 396 votes, while independent candidate Nasir Ali Ansari came second with 318 votes.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Abdul Malik has won with 242 votes, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Muhammad Ijaz came second with 134 votes.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Malik Khalil has won with 249 votes, while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Bilal Yasin came second with 170 votes.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Akmal Nawaz has won with 478 votes, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Sohbat Khan came second with 290 votes.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Samiullah has won with 366 votes, while Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) candidate Hafiz Saffron came second with 213 votes.

Independent candidate Jamshed Mohi-ud-Din has won with 444 votes, while Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) candidate Naeem Gul came second with 348 votes.
Mardan (Ward 2)
Awami National Party (ANP) candidate Waheed Khan has won with 126 votes, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Tariq Ali came second with 92 votes.
Kohat (Ward 3)
Independent candidate Sufyan-ur-Rehman has won with 1070 votes, while independent candidate Shaukat Nawaz came second with 457 votes.
Peshawar (Ward 2)
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Naeem Bukhsh has won with 593 votes, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Alauddin came second with 515 votes.
Peshawar (Ward 5)
Independent candidate Nouman Farooq has won with 705 votes, while independent candidate Shehzad Rafique came second with 528 votes.
Dera Ismail Khan (Ward 2)
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Anwar Ali has won with 75 votes, while independent candidate Muhammad Riaz came second with 83 votes.
Balochistan
Quetta (Ward 3)
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate has won with 542 votes, while Independent candidate Muhammad Aslam came second with 274 votes.
Quetta (Ward 4)
Independent candidate Akhtar Qureshi has won with 856 votes, while independent candidate Abdul Salam came second with 598 votes.
Loralai (Ward 1)
Independent candidate Waheed Khan has won with 225 votes, while independent candidate Zarif Khan came second with 203 votes.
219 wards formed in 42 cantonment boards
According to details, 219 wards have been formed in 42 cantonment boards across the country, and voting is being held on only 203 seats, while elections have been postponed for 6 seats.
Candidates for seven seats were elected unopposed and five independent candidates were also elected unopposed.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have reached an agreement in Galiyat Kalabagh Cantonment following which one candidate from each party was elected unopposed.
As many as 1,550 candidates are contesting in the cantonment board local body elections out of which the highest number of 180 candidates were fielded by PTI, while PML-N fielded 143 candidates and 112 candidates of the PPP are contesting the elections.
104 candidates of Jamaat-e-Islami, 86 candidates of Tehreek-e-Labeek Pakistan (TTP), 74 candidates of Allahu Akbar Tehreek, 42 candidates of MQM, 35 candidates of PSP, 34 candidates of PML-Q and 659 independent candidates are also trying their luck in the elections.
Karachi has maximum 6 cantonments, 42 wards, no party could field candidates for all seats, PTI fielded maximum 41 candidates, PPP 40, Jamaat-e-Islami 38, MQM 32 candidates. Are PSP 27, PML-N 22 candidates, 108 independent candidates are also contesting.
There are 10 wards in Lahore and Walton Cantonment and 268 candidates are contesting for 20 seats. Tough contest is expected between the PML-N and PTI. The rival parties have fielded 20 candidates, while 19 candidates of Allah Akbar Tehreek are contesting elections in 20 wards. The PPP has fielded 15 candidates, PML-Q 13, Jamaat-e-Islami 10 in 20 wards and 144 independent candidates are also in the race on 20 seats.
On the other hand, relatives of prominent political personalities have also entered the fray. Asharab Sohal, son of MPA Yasin Sohal, is the PML-N candidate from Walton Ward 8, while Fahad Masood, brother of MPA Timur Masood, is the PTI candidate from Wah’s Ward 8 and former Senator Chaudhry Tanveer s brother Changez Khan is a PML-N candidate from Ward 4 of Chaklala.
At the end of the polling, the presiding officers will announce the results at the polling station immediately after the counting, while the returning officers will announce the preliminary results immediately after the completion of the results of each ward.
All polling agents are directed to obtain a copy of the result from the Presiding Officer. All election agents or candidates should also get a copy of the preliminary result from the concerned Returning Officer.
Violations
Meanwhile, a scuffle broke out at Multan’s ward number 4 after PTI’s male workers tried to enter female polling station. The polling process got affected by the clash.
Returning officer in Karachi carried out an action and arrested two fake polling agents from ward 4. The suspects were present inside the women polling station without authentic documents.
Following the violations, PPP has written a letter to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) over continuous breaching of rules in Cantonment Boards Elections. PTI workers have violated the code of conduct at polling stations in Karachi, the letter read.
It further demanded the commission to take notice against PTI members of assembly for interfering in the polling process.
Security arrangements
The ECP set up Complaint Centers for monitoring of Cantonment Board election process at all provincal headquarters and Islambad. Citizens can access the centre in Islamabad on telephone numbers: 051-9204403 and 051-9204402.
The provincial governments have been directed to install CCTV cameras at the most sensitive polling stations.
According to the spokesperson of the ECP, police officers have been deployed at the polling stations to ensure law and order, while Rangers and FC are also deployed outside the polling stations.
