Situation at Torkham border is normal: Sheikh Rashid

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Thursday while announcing temporary closure of Chaman border crossing with Afghanistan said that Pakistan’s responsibilities in the region are going to increase.

Talking to media persons after inauguration of a police stations, Government of Pakistan wants peace in Afghanistan. He added that situation at Torkham border is normal but Chaman crossing is being closed temporarily.

Talking about alleged abduction of daughter of Afghan Ambassador, the minister said that efforts were made to blame Pakistan for the incident but all speculations were put to rest after release of CCTV footage.

Talking about political situation of country, Sheikh Rashid said that on the one hand, PML-N president is talking about a national government while on the other hand, the other leader of the party is out rightly refusing talks with the government.

He added that opposition is more than welcome to hold a long march but this is not a time for such an activity and warned that no one will be allowed to spread unrest in the country.

Interior Minister also expressed heartfelt sorrow over demise of Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani and said that entire nation pays tribute to the freedom fighter, who will continue to live in hearts of the people.
