FM urges to set up Int'l medical corridor for Kashmiris in wake of Covid-19
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has demanded from the international community and human rights organizations to press for medical measures to save the Kashmiri people trapped in the clutches of India from Coronavirus.
According to details, a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Committee Chairman Shehryar Afridi. Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi also attended the meeting.
The Foreign Minister apprised the members of the committee on the situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and said that unarmed citizens of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir were facing a double lockdown during the Coronavirus epidemic.
The number of patients affected by Corona epidemic is increasing rapidly in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. "Despite the conflict, we offered humanitarian assistance to India, but so far there has been no positive response from India," he said.
He said that in view of the lack of medical facilities in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the third wave of Coronavirus epidemic, he called on the international community and international health agencies to provide health facilities in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Take steps to ensure the establishment of a "health corridor", he added.
Chairman Kashmir Committee said the forum has unanimously passed a resolution in this regard. He said India is facing worst kind of devastation due to the pandemic. He said so far, over 30 million people have become affected and 226,000 have died of Covid-19 in India.
The Chairman said we will write letters to world leaders, including Secretary General of the United Nations, to draw their attention to this problem for the sake of humanity. He said in IIOJK, 191,000 people are Covid positive, with 2,458 deaths and surge of 4,650 cases daily, while India has deployed one soldier against nine Kashmiris.
The Committee members also demanded that Pakistan should be allowed to help Kashmiri brethren with medical supplies in these testing times.
