PP-84 unofficial results: PTI's Ali Hasnain is second with 49,641 votes
KHUSHAB (Dunya News) - The vote count is underway in PP-84 Khushab by-election after polling ended. The polling started at 8:00am and continued till 5:00pm without any break.
According to the unofficial results of 196 polling stations Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Muazzam Sher Kalu is leading with 60,349 votes while PTI’s Ali Hasnain is at second position with 49,641 votes.
The Punjab Assembly seat from Khushab fell vacant after the death of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Waris Kalu.
At least eight candidates are in the field whereas a closed contest is expected between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Ali Hasnain and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Muazzam Sher Kalu. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Ghulam Habib is also in the running.
According to Election Commission, 229 polling stations had been set up in the constituency for 292,687 registered voters who exercised their right to vote during today’s polling.
At least 14 polling stations had been declared sensitive and were monitored with the help of CCTV cameras while 2880 policemen and 600 Rangers performed security duties.
