PPP and ANP have not been invited in the meeting

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Meeting of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) steering committee will be held today; however, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) have not been invited.

The meeting which will be chaired by PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman will discuss the anti-government movement, long march and resignations from the assemblies.

It merits mention that PPP has resigned from PDM steering committee and Raja Pervez Ashraf, Sherry Rehman and Qamar Zaman Kaira had submitted their resignations to the alliance head.

On the other hand, angered by the show-cause notice by PDM, Awami National Party (ANP) parted ways with the opposition alliance.

PPP and ANP were issued show cause notices for violating rules designated by opposition’s alliance. The notices dispatched by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and PDM secretary general Shahid Khaqan Abbasi after the approval from PDM head and chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman directed the parties to present their explanation in seven days.

The PPP had been asked to justify its step of appointing its candidate, former PM Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, as Leader of Opposition in Senate, against the decision of PDM while ANP had also been directed to clarify why it had supported PPP in the move.
