Sindh mulls closure of schools amid spike in COVID-19 cases

Proposals will be presented to NCOC: Saeed Ghani

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Government of Sindh is considering closure of schools in the province in a bid to curb rising number of coronavirus cases.

Education Minister Saeed Ghani chaired a meeting of a steering committee. During the meeting, some members of the committee suggested closing schools in Sindh for up to eighth grade and continue classes for students of grade nine till 12. Another proposal was to close schools for 15 days.

Saeed Ghani said that proposals of the committee will be presented to National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) to decide on the issue.

On the other hand, educational institutions in nine districts of Punjab including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Sargodha, and Sheikhupura, are closed till April 11.
