COVID-19: KP govt decides to close down markets on Friday, Saturday
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to close down the markets on Friday and Saturday after changing the Coronavirus SOPs.
A statement issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Home Department said that food and drug stores would remain open as usual on Friday and Saturday.
The changes were decided after talks with the Traders Association.
On the other hand Pakistan has reported 63 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 640,988. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 14,028 on Thursday.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 3,946 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Most numbers of casualties have been reported in Punjab.
Till now 263,815 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 205,314 in Punjab, 81,787 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 19,395 in Balochistan, 53,684 in Islamabad, 12,016 in Azad Kashmir and 4,977 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Furthermore, 6,099 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 4,482 in Sindh, 2,246 in KP, 205 in Balochistan, 554 in Islamabad, 339 in Azad Kashmir and 103 in GB.
Pakistan has so far conducted 9,934,373 coronavirus tests and 38,858 in the last 24 hours. 588,975 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas 2,587 patients are in critical condition.
