Babar Awan calls on NA Speaker to discuss electoral reforms
Electoral reforms are in interest of all political parties: Babar
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Advisor to Prime Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan on Monday called on Speaker of National Assembly Asad Qaiser to discuss electoral reforms.
As per details, Babar Awan, after PM Imran Khan’s decision of forming a committee for electoral reforms, met NA Speaker to discuss constitution of a parliamentary committee for the purpose.
Babar Awan said that planning is required now for ensuring transparent elections in the future and parliamentary committee will also be formed for passing open voting bill.
He further said that PM Imran wants to end reservations on electoral process once and for all and the proposed legislation is in interest of all political parties.
Both PTI leaders also discussed resolution by Gilgit Baltistan assembly regarding provincial status. Babar Awan said that a constitutional amendment is required to give the region status of a province.
PM Imran Khan has directed Babar Awan and Asad Qaiser to review the situation and brief him about constitutional requirements in this regard.
