Congratulatory messages pour in for Sadiq Sanjrani
Sanjrani was elected to the Senate in 2021 as BAP candidate from Balochistan province.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Following the victory of government-backed candidate for Senate chairman, congratulatory messages have been pouring in from political circle in what can be described as rather unprecedented.
Friday’s elections for the Senate chairman witnessed an unexpected outcome as Sanjrani managed to bag the slot following a much anticipated contest with the joint opposition candidate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani.
Sanjrani was elected to the Senate in 2021 as BAP candidate from Balochistan province. He is the first ever Chairman of the Senate who hailed from province of Balochistan.
Sanjrani was nominated by Prime Minister Imran Khan for Senate’s top slot. His candidature was backed by the coalition partners of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Born in 1978 in Balochistan’s Nok Kundi town, he obtained his early education from Chaghi.
The newly elected Senate chairman began his political career in 1998 by serving as coordinator of the then premier, former head of PMLN, Nawaz Sharif in Balochistan until the coup in 1999.
He served as the head of complaint cell in Prime Minister Secretariat during tenure of PPP’s Yousaf Raza Gilani that began in 2008. He also served as special assistant to former chief minister of Balochistan Sanaullah Zehri.
He served as director of board of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal as well.
