Opposition alliance registers six-member lead over ruling coalition in Senate
The number of members of opposition alliance in Senate rose to 53 against 47 of ruling coalition.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The opposition alliance has gained an upper hand over the ruling coalition in the 100-member upper house of the parliament after the Senate elections on Wednesday, Dunya News reported.
After the Senate election, the number of members of the opposition alliance in Senate rose to 53, including 20 from the PPP, 18 from the PML-N, five from the JUI-F, two each from ANP, PkMAP National Party, one from BNP-Mengal and two independents, Shamim Afridi and a woman Senator from Balochistan.
On the other hand, the number of ruling coalition stands at 47 including 26 from PTI, 12 from BAP, three from MQM-P, one each from PML-Q and Muslim League Functional and four independent Senators.
As per new party position, the opposition allaince has gained a six-member lead over the ruling coalition
