Senate polls: ECP rejects Pervaiz Rashid's nomination papers
PML-N leader Pervaiz Rashid has decided to file an appeal against the ECP decision.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday has rejected nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Pervaiz Rashid submitted for the Senate polls.
According to details, the PML-N leader has decided to file an appeal against the ECP decision.
It is to be mentioned here that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), while recording objections over the candidacy of Pervaiz Rashid, told that the PML-N leader had filed his nomination papers for general seat, however, he had also mentioned about the technocrat seat in his affidavit.
PML-N candidate had provided misleading statements in his details. He was found guilty in a case pertaining to leaking the secrets of institutions, the PTI representative stated.
Earlier in the day, ECP had approved nomination papers of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and joint candidate of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) for Senate elections, Yousaf Raza Gillani.
While announcing the reserved verdict, the returning officer had rejected the objections raised by PTI leader Fareed Rehman and allowed the former Prime Minister (PM) to contest the elections.
