PML-N's Attaullah Tarar released minutes after his arrest
PML-N's Tarar claims police thrashed his driver and bystanders who were filming the incident.
WAZIRABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Attaullah Tarar, who was arrested from Wazirabad on Friday has been released.
PML-N spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb had confirmed the arrest of Attaullah Tarar, while the reason for his arrest and the police station where he is being taken are unknown.
Attaullah Tarar was arrested during election campaign of his party’s candidate Syeda Nosheen Zahray Shah in Daska for by elections of NA-75.
Speaking exclusively to Dunya News, PML-N leader Uzma Bukhai had said that Tarrar had been arrested from Wazirabad was shifted to City Police Station.
She claimed that the PML-N leader was not nominated in any case, adding that the government was trying to harass our people.
Meanwhile, after being released, PML-N leader Attaulah Tarar claimed that the police stopped his convoy and tortured employees under the pretext of checking weapon s license.
He said that when he tried to resolve the matter, police also detained him. The PML-N leader also claimed that the police thrashed his driver and bystanders who were filming the incident.
Tarar went on to say that if the police have to fight in the by-elections, then we know how to deal with them, adding that we will avenge each wound.
Earlier today, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar stepped down from his post as Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs to run the election campaign for by-election in NA-75 Sialkot.
The PTI leader had sought permission from Prime Minister Imran Khan to participate in the by-election campaign in NA-75.
The Cabinet Division de-notified him Usman Dar at his request. According to sources, after the by-elections, Usman Dar could again join the post of Special Assistant.
On the other hand, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) while taking notice of violation of code of conduct in NA-75 Sialkot by-election had issued notice to Special Assistant Usman Dar.
The ECP told the PTI leader that his picture with PTI candidate in Daska was a violation of Election Act, 2017 and directed Dar to appear before the local ECP office in person.
It is pertinent here to mention that the campaigning for the by-elections in NA-75 Sialkot has entered final phase.
PML-N and PTI members are busy in the election campaign. Elected members of the assemblies from opposition parties also participated in the election campaign, including Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Sana, Khurram Dastgir, Javed Latif.
The by-elections for NA-75 Sialkot will be held on February 19. Ali Asjad Malhi will contest on PTI ticket.
