Five Peshawar neighborhoods to be placed under smart lockdown

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported about 63,000 coronavirus cases.

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Several neighborhoods in Peshawar will be placed under a smart lockdown by the district administration at 1800 hours on Saturdy amid an increase in the number of coronavirus cases in the city.

According to the notification, a smart lockdown will be imposed in several areas including Hayatabad Phase IV and III, Warsak Road, Khushal Town and Yakatoot Bazar.

On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 45 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 516,770. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 10,908 on Saturday.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 2,432 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.

Till now 233,396 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 148,488 in Punjab 62,996 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 39,888 in Islamabad, 18,537 in Balochistan, 8,583 in Azad Kashmir and 4,882 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
