ECP releases schedule for by-polls on seven vacant seats
By-elections in Sindhs and Balochistan will be held on February 16
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued schedule for by-elections on seven vacant seats of national and provincial assemblies.
According to a notification issued by the ECP, by-elections in Sindh’s and Balochistan will be held on February 16, while by-polls on vacant seats in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and national assembly will be held on February 19.
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan, by-polls will be held on February 16 in Sindh s PS-43 Sanghar-III, PS-88 Malir-II and Balochistan Assembly’s constituency PB-20 Pishin-III.
The notification further stated that candidates will be able to receive nomination papers from December 23 to December 28, while scrutiny of nomination papers will be done by January 4.
“Candidates will be able to challenge the decisions of the Returning Officers in the Appellate Tribunal till January 8, while the final list of candidates will be released on January 16 and the symbols will be allotted on January 17,” the notification read.
Polling for two vacant seats in the National Assembly and one each in the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assemblies will take place on February 19. Nomination papers for NA-75 Sialkot, NA-45 Kurram, Punjab Assembly constituency PP-51 Gujranwala and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly constituency PK-63 Nowshera by-elections can be submitted from December 25 to December 30.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place by January 6. The final list of candidates will be released on January 20 and the symbols will be allotted on January 21, while polling will be held on February 19.
