Ministers demand strict action against those responsible for petrol crisis
The prime minister hints at cancelling license of oil companies involved in petrol crisis
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal ministers on Tuesday while reacting strongly on the inquiry report demanded strict action against those responsible for the petrol crisis.
A meeting of the federal cabinet was held with Prime Minister Imran Khan in chair and discussed overall political and economic situation of the country.
During the meeting, an inquiry report into the petroleum crisis was presented. The cabinet discussed in length regarding the recommendations of the inquiry committee.
PM Imran Khan has also constituted a three-member committee comprising of Shafqat Mahmood, Shireen Mazari and Asad Umar to review the recommendations of the inquiry report and the committee will formulate its recommendations as to what action should be taken on the inquiry report.
The prime minister while hinting at cancelling the license of oil companies said that investigation will be held into teh companies involved in the crisis.
According to sources, the federal minister while reacting strongly to the inquiry report demanded strict action against those responsible and asked where the relevant ministries were when the petrol crisis was created. Nadeem Babar kept giving explanations on questions in the cabinet.
Federal ministers Faisal Vawda and Ali Zaidi asked why petrol remained stagnant when the petroleum prices came down and why weren t the licenses of the companies involved in the crisis revoked.
Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi demanded strict action against those responsible for the crisis.
The federal cabinet also gave approval for the appointment of Chairman National Disaster Management Authority. On the occasion, the Attorney General briefed on legal matters, provision of funds and resources by the federation to the provinces, survey on Ehsaas Kafalat and Corona Relief Fund.
The cabinet also approved the postponement of the report of the committee on the use of the Metropolitan Club building at F-9 Park and the appointment of the CEO of Ignite, a subsidiary of the Ministry of IT.
