LAHORE (Dunya News) - The city of Lahore is generates around 5,000 tons of solid waste every day, which requires a continued and efficient effort by the authorities to keep the city clean. Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has been struggling to keep pace with the situation and has now sought help from several other departments.

LWMC had signed a seven-year contract with two Turkish companies to pick the near 5,000 tons of solid waste generated daily in Lahore, which expires on December 31.

In this regard, the Turkish companies have started removing their machinery from the field, the consequences of which are being braved by the citizens.

In view of the worsening situation, LWMC has sought the help of the district administration, PHA, WASA, Metropolitan Corporation and LDA.

According to an LWMC spokesperson, an integrated strategy has been formulated to maintain better sanitation in the city.
