Second wave of Coronavirus could prove dangerous if SOPs not followed: Asad Umar
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar, while trying to make people aware of the severity of Coronavirus, said that the attitude of the people does not show that they are worried about anything, the second wave of Coronavirus could prove to be very dangerous.
In a press conference with Special Assistant Dr. Faisal Sultan in Islamabad, he spoke in detail about the current status of the coronavirus epidemic in Pakistan and the future threats.
Asad Umar said the government s decision to close schools was not an easy one. The schools are likely to reopen on January 11, 2021, depending on the situation. He said that it has been decided to close the restaurants as well.
He said that the intensity of the second wave of Coronavirus is also high in other countries but the attitudes of the people in Pakistan show that they are not aware of the intensity of Coronavirus. Unfortunately, large gatherings are taking place in the country.
Asad Umar said that when we imposed lockdown in the beginning, the poor people were affected. Government does not want conditions that endanger jobs and lives. The government has decided to launch the second phase of the Ehsas program.
The Federal Minister said that a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Coronavirus has been convened tomorrow. Political leaders have been invited to the meeting. Politicians must take the current situation seriously.
